It's better than Crysis, but still a flawed game. The lighting department is where Crysis excels. Really breathtaking. They hired Hans Zimmer to compose the soundtrack and parts of it sound similar to Superman Man of Steel. The environment art is beautiful. They made a remarkable interpretation of New York. I'd compare it to Max Payne. Remedy made NY dark, dirty and it perfectly matches the plot. NY in Crysis 2 is big, daylight and offers one of the best graphics of all time.

They learned from Crysis and added icons to mark goals. The HUD is better. They added the ability to climb up. They added upgrades to the suit. The plot has some more depth. However, the design has many many flaws. Some missions force you to restart because some script didn't run correctly and creates a point where you cannot progress. Some whirls of paper drawing a player's attention where there is nothing to do. The level design reminds me of F.E.A.R. 2 due to multiple similarities. Yet, the envrionment art draws the player's attention to places where you cannot go and even deceive the player into thinking that they can jump to reach a place that cannot be reached. The skill upgrades are cool but the games leaves the player without tutorials about how to use them. The tactical options thing doesn't help much and I completely ignored it the whole game. Flawed AI. Poor voice acting. Out of sync subtitles. Cinematics with low res for some reason. The same sub bosses repeat over and over.

There is a mission where you have to use your tactical visor to highlight a ship very far away. The game deceives you by placing a blue marker on a window. I got lost there because I didn't know that the far away ship was a target. It's the type of design error that confuses players and it happens in many games.
