Halo 4

From Henry's personal library

I don't know what happened, but this Halo felt rushed. I really wanted about 50% more to better understand the events of it. The campaign felt rushed with many abrupt changes from one location to another.

The environment art is the best part of it. They had some awesome lighting. Better interface and better HUD. However, Arial font for the terminals and out of sync captions really felt a sign of a rushed development.

The soundtrack has had a shift in direction that toned down on the "epicness" for some reason. The marvelous choir was reduced for instance.

In some aspects the design is good, but in others not. They gameplay follows from Reach, adopting the same mechanics. The objectives are clearly indicated by Cortana. However, the engine has bugs with scripts. Sometimes the red arrow that indicates a goal is pointing far away. It's unreachable because there is a goal near you but you don't know it because the arrow is pointing at another goal. Many other weird design decisions such as a one time jetpack use just to get off the ship. You never use it again. The plot includes weapons that can take down huge ships, but at the same time you are forced to go inside one to destroy its core. Comparing Gears of War to Halo I don't understand why keep friendly fire on in Halo. The last boss is not a fight like what you had with Prophet of Regret in Halo 2. It's a scripted sequence with QTE. I think that this was caused by the plot. The villain has godlike powers, how do you defeat him?

Terence Hood > Del Rio.

The aircraft rail sequence when you invade the Didact's ship is clearly a reference to Star Wars episode IV. The environment art is very good. But it's on rails and I felt that it was much worse than Reach's battle in space. Visually stunning but the experience is of a linear sequence where you don't have much freedom.
