Wolfenstein: The Old Blood
I didn't kill the last boss. I watched a video and counted it as done because I couldn't kill it. Too hard. Excellent art and level design. The return to the wolfenstein castle part was awesome.
I don't like "kill 50 with headshots, kill 20 with grenades, so on" to earn upgrades. I also didn't like the plot. Who had this idea to make Blazkowics be captured and lose all his weapons over and over? One time is not enough? I didn't like how slow was the animation to kill the super soldiers. While you are watching it you keep being hit by incoming fire.
The green underworld energy and the zombies seem a callback to Wolfenstein from Activision. A nice touch, albeit the game becomes a drag with infinite zombie hordes. This reminds me of Red Faction II. There is a level in Red Faction II that takes place in a graveyard and the hordes of zombies is infinite with nothing telling the player to advance and ignore the infinite horde.
I imagine that Id tech 5 was a pain for artists. With everything being pre computed I imagine the many hours wasted in pre computing lights and shadows. If you change something, more waiting times.
There are two jokes that I only came to understand after beating the game. "Sawed-off shotgun", the character literally saws off the shotgun's barrels. The other was "lay vs lie", with two nazi making a pun with "grammar nazi".
